KARGIL, Nov 25: Chairman and Chief Executive Councilor (CEC) LAHDC Kargil Feroz Ahmad Khan along with the Executive Councilor for Works Aga Syed Abbass Razvi today visited Parkachik to take stock of the pace of ongoing snow clearance works on Kargil-Padum road.
Councilor Parkachik Haji Ghulam Mohammad, SDM Sankoo Ghulam Mohi-ud-Din Wani, Executive Engineers of Mechanical and Suru Valley divisions, Tehsildar Tai Suru, SHO Panikhar besides other officers concerned accompanied the CEC during the tour.
The concerned officers informed the CEC that road clearance works are presently underway from both ends of Penzila pass and subject to fair weather conditions the highway is expected to be opened for vehicular traffic within two days.
It was further given out that from Kargil side the road has been cleared up to Rongo Parkachik and expected to reach Rangdum tomorrow while as from Zanskar side snow clearance on the highway has reached Akshow and is further continuing towards Penzila Pass.
CEC while appreciating the strenuous efforts of the engineers, technicians and laborers involved with the snow clearance operations urged them to further fast pace the work so that the highway is restored for traffic as early as possible.
