KARGIL, Jan 13: Chairman and Chief Executive Councilor (CEC), LAHDC, Kargil Feroz Ahmed Khan met the Vice Chancellor (VC), University of Ladakh (UoL) C. Phunsog and discussed with him various issues related to the establishment of the Government Degree College at Sankoo.
During the course of the meeting, the CEC said that in view of growing public demand of the people of Sankoo and its adjourning areas, establishment of the Degree College at Sankoo needs to be addressed on priority basis. He further said a memorandum was also submitted to the LG Ladakh R K Mathur and assurance was given for early establishment of Degree College at Sankoo which would function from the next academic session.
Vice Chancellor C Phunsog informed CEC Feroz Khan that UT Administration has already issued directions to start the process of drafting the Detailed Project Report (DPR) for establishment of the college at Sankoo which is being submitted within a period of 10 days time to the Commissioner Secretary Higher Education Ladakh.
The VC further said that formal approval for establishment of the Degree College at Sankoo from the next academic session will be given in the upcoming University Council Meet.
Meanwhile, CEC Kargil expressed gratitude to the UT Administration Ladakh and the Vice Chancellor, UoL for taking keen interest in the establishment of GDC at Sankoo on priority basis.
