LEH, Aug 7: Chief Executive Councilor (CEC), LAHDC Rigzin Spalbar visited flood affected areas of Choglamsar, Shey, Thiksay, Phuktsay, Igoo, Shara-Sharnos and Upshi villages.
He was accompanied by Executive Councilor for Tourism Mohammad Shafi Lassu, Executive Engineer I&FC, and Construction, Tehsildar and Naib Tehsildar Kharu, Naib Tehsidar Gya, and other concerned officials.
CEC visited the flood affected areas of Tagar at Sakti village where the rains had created havoc like situation. More than 100 kanals of agricultural land of peas, potato, and alpha-alpha were completely damaged. One residential house was completely damaged while many others were partially damaged.
Farmers entirely dependent on their fields for their livelihood requested CEC to provide them assistance in removing the debris from their fields at the earliest so that they can prepare their land for the next cultivating season.
CEC assured every help and free-ration to the farmers who lost their standing crops in the flood, and also gave directions to the officials of soil conservation for providing sufficient pipes to the villagers to avert any danger of water reaching their homes and fields.
Spalbar also directed AEE PHE to carve out immediate drinking water solution for the villagers. He further directed the villagers to register the damages caused to the residential houses, agriculture land and standing crops with the Revenue Department for further necessary steps to be taken.
On EC Shafi’s previous visit report, CEC Spalbar identified a safer land for the family whose house got completely damaged and directed to provide tent for the family.
Later, CEC also visited the debris filled cracked houses at Thiksay village and the mud filled damaged road to Thiksay Monastery where he assured of more assistance.
At the bank of river Indus at Shey, the villagers of Shey Yokma also requested CEC for assistance of protective bands on which CEC gave required directions.
