LEH, Nov 25: The 14th Dalai Lama will visit Likir Monastery in the month of June next year and stay 4-5 days at Likir Monastery before Kalachakara sermon and has agreed to bless and start his ambitious desire of a debate among various monastic institutions of Ladakh about teachings of Lord Buddha and other Indian Buddhist masters
He will also start the “Ladakh Lukhil Pharchin Yarchhos Chhenpo” which will be very historic event not only for all the monks of Ladakh, but to the entire people of Ladakh as well. In this regard, the Chief Executive Councilor LAHDC, Leh Rigzin Spalbar today visited Likir Monastery to inspect the ongoing arrangements/ developmental works at Likir Monastery.
The Chakzot Likir Monastery Geshe Lobzang Samstan and Manager Gaylong Thupstan Skalzang demanded for early completion of road widening and parking project, drinking water facilities for the devotees, public convenience around the venue, up gradation of transformer and installation of street lights around the Photang, shifting of existing link road from Photang to new alignment, construction of community bathrooms at some locations for the residential guests and permanent inmates, construction of water tank and up gradation of BSNL tower and landline facilities etc.
Mr. Spalbar directed all the concerned executing agencies to give special attentions to complete all the works within the time frame. He said there should be no lapses in preparations and arrangements in all respect as large number of guests including foreigners are expected to attend the debate. To bring more paces in the execution of the works, the CEC decided to hold a next review meeting in February 2014. He also directed Tourism Department to do their part of works during Dalai Lama’s visit next year.
The Councilor Saspol Constituency Rinchen Tundup, Chief Executive Officer, Leh Development Authority Urgain Lundup, Assistant Commissioner Development, Zaida Banoo, Assistant Director Tourism, Sonam Dorjey, XEn R&B Gh. Nabi, XEn. PDD Tsewang Paljor, Engineer, PHE and BDO Leh accompanied the CEC.
