JAMMU, Sept 30: Jammu Central Mahajan Sabha (JCMS) will celebrate the 153rd birth anniversary of Lala Hans Raj Mahajan—a renowned social reformer and founder of the Sabha.
In a press conference here today Ramesh Chander Gupta, Sabha president said that Lala Ji was also the founder of Dogra Sadar Sabha and he worked a lot for the removal of caste system in the society.
“To remember the great personality, Sabha has planned multiple programmes on his birth anniversary and these programmes will be held in phased manner on different dates,” he said adding that these programmes will start from October 2, 2019 and there will be painting competition on October 13, Rangoli competition on October 20 and debate on Article 370 on November 10, 2019.
Mahajan Sabha president also said that this year a new item ‘Sangeet Kala’ has also been added in the programmes to be performed on the occasion.
“The celebrations will conclude with the main function on Sunday December 8 at Mahajan Bhawan Shalamar Road,” he maintained.
He also said that a Committee headed by Amar Chand Gupta, Sabha Patron including Om Parkash Mahajan (Kaku Shah), Shiv Pratap Gupta, Om Parkash Gupta, Sanjay Mahajan, Arun Gupta and Prabh Dayal Gupta has been constituted to chalk out further detailed programmes in due course of time and the Committee will function under the overall control and guidance of Sabha President.
JCMS president further said that as already decided by the Committee, the celebration will start with Vedic Hawan on October 2 at Lala Hans Raj Park on Sunder Singh Gurudwara Road from 8:30 am.
“After Hawan floral tributes will be paid to the statue of Lala Ji in the park and this will follow with distribution of Prasad among the participants of the function,” he maintained.
JCMS has appealed to the community members to grace the occasion by their participation in the Hawan.
