Central team visits Jammu, reviews status of welfare schemes

JAMMU, Apr 13:  A high-level Central team, led by Union Cabinet Secretary Ajit Seth, today reviewed various ongoing centrally-sponsored schemes in Jammu and Kashmir during its day-long visit to the winter capital.

The team met Governor N N Vohra, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and J&K Chief Secretary Iqbal Khanday and discussed the progress of various centrally-sponsored schemes.

Advisor to Prime Minister in the National Council on Skill Development, S Ramadorai, was also part of the team.

In an hour-long meeting at the Raj Bhawan, Seth and Vohra discussed issues related to implementation of programmes and welfare schemes, an official spokesman said.

Issues related to hydel power projects, four-laning of the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway, construction of the Udhampur-Katra-Qazigund section of the Jammu-Baramulla Rail Link Project and upgradation of Jammu and Srinagar airports were also discussed during the meeting.

During a meeting with Omar at his residence, Seth discussed matters pertaining to development of the state, the spokesman said.

Ramadorai also met the Governor and the Chief Minister and reviewed progress on skill development initiatives for the youth of Jammu and Kashmir.

The status of implementation of Udaan, Himayat and other initiatives taken by the Centre and state government for skill development of youths was discussed during the meeting, the spokesman said. (AGENCIES)
