Srinagar, July 26: The National Conference Vice President and former Chief Minister Omar Abdullah today said that rumors are being spread by Centre in Kashmir regarding Articles 35-A and 370 to create fear psychosis.
Addressing party workers in Srinagar, the former Chief Minister regretted that a deliberate environment of fear is being created in Kashmir and said this won’t help anyone.
“Yesterday a news was doing rounds that Police Stations have been told to get satellite phones, JCBs as rumors from establishment are being spread that something big thing would happen after August 15. I want to ask, why you can’t wait Supreme Court decision. When we say, we hold the SC decision supreme, why can’t you have faith in the apex court”, asked Omar.
“I want to ask the ruler of this State what would you get in creating fear among people. On one side, you claim in Parliament that situation is returning to normal, militancy has gone down and on the other hand you spread rumors that situation would get worse after August 15. I want to tell them that the worst sufferers of any disturbance always remain the people of Kashmir”, said the former Chief Minister.
Omar also lashed out at the Government for “spreading rumors of trifurcation of the Jammu and Kashmir State”. If that was done , it would be a division not on regional lines but on religious lines.
Do you want to prove National Conference wrong for its 1947 decision? Do you want to prove Sher-e-Kashmir’s slogan of Hindu, Muslim, Sikh , Bodh unity wrong. ? Do you want to prove “Two Nation “theory right”, he asked.
He also dared Centre to hold enquiries against him and his party men and see if “we had done anything wrong?”
“Whatever we have done was for the benefit of the State. My party men are being threatened. I dare you to do whatever you want. Hold enquiries, make commissions. We are not those who will be scared”, said Omar.
