SRINAGAR, Oct 5: While welcoming Governor Satyapal Malik’s statement saying that in his opinion, it is not the militants who have to be killed but the militancy, former PCC chief Prof Saifuddin Soz said that he must have some reason to shape in their minds.
Soz said, “This narrative is welcome because it is an invitation to all actors who have thus far, continued to think that force alone can produce peace on ground. It has never happened anywhere in the world and ultimately, the turmoils got settled through dialogue and discussion only. That is world history,” Soz added.
“Satyapal Malik’s statement must have come as a relief to Generals like DS Hooda, who had earlier stressed that India’s system of authority must understand that it was necessary to reach the minds of youth who were up with arms. Governor Malik has raised a broader political question for the system why it was necessary to reach the minds of angry youth and remove militancy there. My firm belief is that unless the unrest in the minds of angry people of Kashmir will be addressed, there won’t be peace in Kashmir,” Prof Soz maintained.
“The Central Govt must understand that there is a limit to killings in Kashmir. The Indian Govt must heed the latest advice from Governor. It mustn’t take further time to understand that the killings in Kashmir cannot go unabated,” Soz added.
