JAMMU, July 28: Reiterating resolve of his party to fulfill Mufti Mohammad Sayeed’s visionary agenda of peace and reconciliation in the State, general secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Sartaj Madni today asked Centre to immediately initiate some comprehensive Confidence Building Measures (CBMs) to remove alienation among Kashmiri youth. He said that keeping in view the prevailing situation in Kashmir Valley, Centre must initiate dialogue process with all stake holders to establish lasting and sustainable peace in this region.
Addressing a function in connection with the 17th Foundation Day of the party at Jammu this afternoon, Sartaj Mandi, who is former deputy speaker of the Legislative Assembly, said that after visit of Union Home Minister, Rajnath Singh, now it is the high time for taking some bold initiatives to fulfill wishes and aspirations of the people of the State in general and Kashmir valley in particular.
While pointing towards the recent unfortunate violent incidents in Kashmir valley which resulted into human and economic losses, Mr Madni said that need of the hour is to ascertain real cause of prevailing anger and alienation among youth of the Valley. “Union Home Minister has himself assessed ground situation of the Valley by visiting here”, he said and pointed out that people of the Valley have urged Rajnath Singh to immediately take some concrete steps to address grievances of the youth.
“It is hard reality that alienation among youth could not be removed through oppressive means so we have to adopt human approach to reach out to alienated lot of the society, which is being exploited by some forces for petty political gains”, observed and emphasized on the need of adopting “healing touch” policy of late Mufti Mohammad Sayeed to heal wounds of the people at this crucial time.
He reiterated commitment of his party to carry out a relentless struggle to achieve the party’s target of establishing lasting peace in the State and to create a space for everyone to contribute and thrive in the democratic process with dignity. He reiterated party’s resolves to carry forwards late Mufti Mohammad Sayeed’s policy of peace and reconciliation.
