Centre notifies fresh term for Justice Rajesh Sekhri as Addl Judge J&K HC

JAMMU, June 11: The Union Ministry of Law and Justice today notified the appointment for fresh term for Justice Rajesh Sekhri as Additional Judge of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh High Court.
Minister of Law and Justice Arjun Ram Meghwal on social media stated, “in the exercise of the power conferred by the Constitution of India, the President of India, after consultation with the Chief Justice of India has approved a fresh term for Justice Rajesh Sekhri”.
Justice Sekhri initially became an Additional Judge of the Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh High Court on July 27, 2022 and he assumed office on July 29, 2022.
In the month of May, the Supreme Court Collegium headed by Chief Justice of India (CJI) D Y Chandrachud recommended that Justice Rajesh Sekhri be appointed as an Additional Judge of the Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh High Court for a fresh term of one year with effect from July 29, 2024.
The Collegium further noted that the Collegium of the Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh High Court had on April 23 recommended that Justice Rajesh Sekhri be appointed as an Additional Judge for a fresh term, “there being no vacancy of Permanent Judge against which he could be considered”.

“In view of this, the Collegium resolves to recommend that Justice Rajesh Sekhri be appointed as an Additional Judge of the High Court of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh for a fresh term of one year with effect from July 29, 2024,” the Supreme Court Collegium said.
Born in Jammu, Justice Sekhri did Matriculation from S D Sabha Higher Secondary School and Graduation from Government Gandhi Memorial Science College and LLB from University of Jammu in the year 1989. He passed KCS Judicial and joined as Munsiff in 1995. He was promoted as Sub-Judge in 1998 and as District and Sessions Judge in 2008.
He got Selection Grade in 2014 with effect from June 2013 and was placed in Super Time Scale in 2017. He served as CJM Rajouri and Kargil, Special Judge TADA/POTA Court Srinagar, Additional District Judge Anantnag, Additional District and Sessions Judge Jammu and Principal District Judge Reasi, Ramban and Baramulla. He also remained Special Judge Anti-Corruption CBI Cases.
