NEW DELHI, May 13:
With the Centre promising maximum support for ensuring development in Uttar Pradesh, Union Minister for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship Rajiv Pratap Rudy today held a meeting with Industrial Development Minister of the State Satish Mahana.
Both the leaders discussed the scope for skill development for the youth of the state and how bringing scale and speed to the skill initiatives will serve as a major impetus to the industrial plans for the state. Mr Mahana stated that the state had identified three industrial clusters in the region Noida, Agra and Kanpur, which would help increase the pace of industrialisation in UP, which had been long pending for now.
He said, “It is crucial that we have a ready workforce, which is well-equipped with the latest skills and technology know-how to achieve this mission of our newly-formed Government”.
Extending his best of assurance, Mr Rudy said, ”We have courses under Skill India, which are aligned to the National Skill Qualification Framework, specially to industrial sector requirement and we would be more than happy to extend our support in building new Uttar Pradesh, as envisioned by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
This initiative will address the issue of migration of youth from the state for better job prospects and at the same time, boost industrial development in the state.”
”We congratulate the Uttar Pradesh Government on the pace that it has set for development, under the guidance of Yogi Adityanathji. We are certain that both the Centre and state will soon be able to bring UP in line with the overall vision of a New India that the PM has for the country,” he added.
Mr Rudy said on the basis of development, job roles would be increased under the Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY). ”The state needs to identify sector specific skilling projects and requirement-based projects, for example if a leading mobile company is setting up its manufacturing unit in the state, we should have a skilled workforce ready to be hired.”
According to a statement, the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE) has been working closely with the private sector in UP to promote skill development there through its implementation arm, the National Skill Development Corporation.
Under the short term skill development courses, more than 3.65 lakh students have already been skilled so far in the state, out of which more than 50 per cent have already been placed.
The meeting also saw representation from the UP Skill Development Mission (UPSDM) team, which was asked to work closely in conjunction with the Centre and get inducted into the Central schemes and projects and focus on convergence of all initiatives for a wider impact. MSDE will help the state youth for training in technologies, so that they can help in close monitoring of the initiatives being run by the government and have a better impact.
MSDE will also work closely with UPSDM to successfully run the recognition of prior learning programme, which does assessment and evaluation of prior experience of a person and gives them a government and industry certification, recognising their level of expertise. (UNI)
