Centre should take early action to restore normalcy in J&K: Mir

SRINAGAR, Aug 12: Reacting to the all party meeting held today in Delhi to discuss Kashmir unrest under Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Pradesh Congress Committee President GA Mir has welcomed the suggestions put-forth by Congress Party in the meeting, saying that there is an urgent need to transform these suggestions into reality for the restoration of lost trust and confidence of the people.
Congress team led by Dr Manmohan Singh former Prime Minister, Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha Gulam Nabi Azad, Malik Arjun Kharge and senior leader Dr Karan Singh, while suggesting many important measures urged the Centre Govt to restore confidence and lost trust among the people in Valley.
PCC chief said now the onus lies with the Centre Govt to decide and start making serious efforts to put an end to the unrest in the Valley, besides taking effective measures to win the confidence of the people. Centre Govt has to act early to address the anguish and agony of the people at right earnest, he said.
Mir further said that Congress Party from the day one has been making serious efforts to restore peace in the Valley, besides having extended all support to PDP- BJP Coalition in the State to restore calm. He said Congress Party shall continue to work for prevalence of peace.
He said after conclusion of the meeting it will be appropriate enough on the part of Centre Govt to start taking measures seriously as suggested by the Congress Party led by Dr Manmohan Singh in the all party meet inorder to find a solution to all the problems.
PCC president said no one can deny that recent incidents lead to the great alienation of the people, so the Centre Govt shall have prepare a roadmap to reach out to the people and address their basic concerns. The Centre shall have to move forward and win the hearts and minds of the people, besides infusing sense of security among the people, Mir added.
