SRINAGAR, July 17: CEO Prasar Bharati, Jawhar Sircar called on Chief Secretary, Madhav Lal this morning and apprised him about the programmes and new initiatives of Prasar Bharati to broad base its coverage and reach in all areas of the State.
The CEO apprised the Chief Secretary about new initiatives taken up by Prasar Bharati to upgrade its transmission and to make programmes more attractive, informative and educative.
The Chief Secretary emphasized on introduction of more interactive programmes involving people in debates and discussions aimed at socio-economic development and transparent governance. He also underlined the importance for special programmes for public awareness regarding State and centrally sponsored flagship programmes and other development schemes for welfare of people particularly related to weaker sections of the society.
The Chief Secretary also highlighted the need for dedicated programmes for youth in Jammu and Kashmir. “Programmes on skill development, employability, artisan welfare, inclusive development, panchayats, public empowerment, Public Service Guarantee Act etc also need to be incorporated in the schedules of Doordarshan and All India Radio”, he said, adding that developments taking place in the country in various sectors also requires added attention through special programmes for students and general viewers.
The Chief Secretary said that Doordarshan and All India Radio should continue with its effort towards promoting State’s culture, history, pluralistic ethos, harmony and brotherhood through its programmes.
