SRINAGAR, July 8 : As directed by N. N. Vohra, Governor, Chairman of the Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board, Navin K. Choudhary, Chief Executive Officer of the Shrine Board, today reviewed the Yatra arrangements with the Camp Directors via teleconferencing.
The CEO reiterated earlier directions regarding the effective maintenance of sanitation and cleanliness at all the camps in the Yatra area and along both the Yatra routes, and ensuring proper disposal of all bio-degradable and non-bio-degradable wastes. He directed the Camp Directors to ensure that cleaning is carried out on round the clock basis, besides launching special cleanliness drives in their respective camps. While reviewing the functioning of Sewage Treatment Plants at Baltal and Nunwan Base Camps, he expressed satisfaction at their performance.
The CEO informed that the Yatra so far has been running smoothly, and all essential arrangements have been working satisfactorily. He stated that a total of 1,42,648 Yatris had Darshan at the Holy Cave Shrine during the first 10 days of the ongoing Yatra i.e. upto 7th July evening, at an average of about 14,264 Yatris per day.
While expressing sadness over the unfortunate deaths of three pilgrims in the past 10 days of the ongoing pilgrimage, the CEO yet again urged the intending pilgrims to take adequate precautions while embarking on the pilgrimage. He advised the Yatris visiting the Holy Cave Shrine of Shri Amarnathji, to refrain from attempting to complete their pilgrimage in great hurry, as they have to undertake a very arduous trek through high mountains under adverse weather conditions.
He urged them to immediately contact the nearest Medical Centres, in case they felt uneasy, to obtain timely medical attention. In this context, the CEO has also once again urged the intending pilgrims to strictly adhere to the advisory of Do’s and Don’ts issued by the Shrine Board for the Yatris visiting the Holy Cave Shrine of Shri Amarnathji.
Referring to the loss of life of three pilgrims in the first 10 days of the Yatra, he stated that the Shrine Board officials had helped in completing all the required legal formalities and also arranged the cremation at Pahalgam of Ashwin Patel of Ratlam, Madhya Pradesh, who had died at Nagakoti on 3rd July. The dead bodies of Karshan Kanji of Porbandar, Gujarat, who died at Lower Camp Holy Cave on 3rd July, and of Satinder Soni of Ludhiana, Punjab, who died on 6th July at Brari-Marg, were transported to their native places, after completing the required legal formalities.
