CF educates nomad community on forest fires in Mahorgarh

SAMBA, Mar 6: Conservator of Forests, East Circle Jammu, Pradeep Chandra Wahule, today visited Samba and had interaction at Balode Nursery with Bakerwal/ nomad community of Mahorgarh, Kharad, Sodam, Liani, Zeed, Bhupnergarh, Padayatop and Jarmora of Samba district.
Wahule educated the nomad community of the area on various issues like upcoming forest fire season, construction of fire-lines to contain fire, ongoing survey & demarcation work, grazing, site selection for closure establishment, opening of 10 years old closures for grazing etc.
The Conservator of Forests, gave a patient hearing to all the speakers and maximum issues were addressed on the spot. The leaders of the community projected various issues and problems being faced by the community people.
After the interactive session, Conservator of Forests Jammu demonstrated C R Babu method of Lanatana removal in the field which was highly appreciated by the public as well as Forest staff of Samba Forest Division.
Also participated in the discussions were DFO Samba, Sagar Singh and DFO, ETF . Pankaj Raina alongwith Range Officers, Block Officers and Forest Guards from the Forest Department.
Prominent among the locals spoke on the occasion included Hazi Fareed, Hazi Mohd Iqbal, Ch Basharat, Ch Altaf, Ch Shafi, Ch Mukhtiyar, Ch Iqbal and Ch Javed. They appreciated the efforts made by Forest Department in protection of forests.
