JAMMU, May 30: Joining fight against deadly second wave of COVID, the Central Government Pensioners’ Welfare Association (CGPWA) here raised fund of Rs. 3,07,300 out of their pension for the victims of the pandemic. This fund has been contributed by 49 pensioners.
These pensioners have, once again, risen to the occasion to extend helping hand to the people in distress. Last year, the Association had contributed Rs. 3.11 lakh to J&K LG’s Relief Fund for fighting COVID-19 pandemic.
With the current contributions, these pensioners of Jammu have so far donated Rs. 6.18 lakh for fighting COVID pandemic during one year.
In almost every human tragedy everywhere in the country, the pensioner members of the CGPWA had been in the fore front in making donations and contributing to PM National Relief Fund or concerned CM Relief Fund.
Association president, S.S Wazir said this time, the fund raised has been divided into two parts. One part amounting Rs 1,13,300 has been sent to PM Cares Fund for combating the second wave of COVID at national level while the remaining fund has been used in purchase of oxygen concentrators for local COVID patients taking treatment at home.
The Association has collaborated with Rotary Club Jammu Tawi, international body known for humanitarian service and Vivekananda Charitable Hospital Amphalla, Jammu by pooling their resources to serve the local brethren suffering for want of oxygen after falling prey to deadly Coronavirus especially under treatment at home.
They are creating an Oxygen Concentrator bank for use by the needy COVID patients at home round the clock.
