CGPWA holds 21st annual general meeting

JAMMU, Apr 23: The Central Government Pensioners’ Welfare Association (CGPWA), Jammu held its 21st Annual General Body Meeting (AGM) here today with Dr Ashok Aima, Vice Chancellor Central University Jammu (CUJ) as the chief guest.
Over hundred CGPWA members attended the AGM, besides special invitees comprising distinguished senior citizens and social activists.
On the occasion, the chief guest released Pensioners’ Journal 2016 of the association.
In his Annual General Report for the year 2015-2016, JK Vaid, general secretary of the association briefed the pensioners about the latest Central Government orders for the welfare of pensioners.
SS Wazir, president of the association in his welcome address, briefly touched upon the welfare activities being pursued by the Association in service of the civil society, in general and the pensioners and their families, in particular.
VP Sharma, patron in his observations gave a brief historical account of the Association and briefed the house on the major achievements of the Association.
KB Jandial, a noted columnist gave an impressive power point presentation on Communal Harmony and Good Governance. He supported his talk with well researched facts and figures.
In pursuance of the high traditions of the Association, one very senior member, Maj Gen BN Dhar, was honoured with Sreshth Vrishth Nagrik Award on attaining 90 years of age and two other senior members of the Organization, DK Sharma and Saran Singh were honoured with Jeishth Vrishth Nagrik awards on attaining 80 years of age, with presentation of mementoes by the chief guest.
The function culminated with vote of thanks by BK Raina, vice president of CGPWA.
