JAMMU, Apr 24: Central Government Pensioners’ Welfare Association (CGPWA) held its 22nd Annual General Body Meeting (AGM) here today.
On the occasion, Khurshid Ahmad Ganai, Chief Information Commissioner J&K was the chief guest. Around nearly hundred members of CGPWA including representatives from Srinagar chapter also attended the AGM.
JK Vaid, General Secretary of the Association conducted the proceedings and presented the Annual General Report for the year 2016-2017. He also briefed the house on the latest Government orders for the welfare of pensioners.
SS Wazir, President in his welcome address highlighted the welfare activities being pursued by the Association in service of the civil society in general and the pensioners and their families in particular.
Dr Shashikant Goswami, Ex-Scientific Director, Sports Authority of India gave an informative and useful power point presentation on geriatrics and nutrition.
VP Sharma, Patron gave a brief historical account of the Association and also briefed the house on the major achievements of the Association, current strength of which has risen to 303 registered members.
GN Kanth, Vice President Kashmir Chapter spoke on important issues such as opening of new CGHS Wellness Centre at Srinagar and progress made on this score.
HN Raina, Treasurer presented accounts report for approval of the house.
Triennial elections of the Association were also held for the term 2017-20 with Prem Gupta as Returning Officer. New office bearers elected unanimously are SS Wazir as President, BK Raina as Vice President, JK Vaid as General Secretary, RL Kampasi as Secretary and HN Raina as Treasurer. For Kashmir Chapter, GN Kant was elected as Vice President, Rafeeq Masoodi as Secretary and GM Wani as Treasurer. VP Sharma was unanimously re-nominated as Patron by the house.
Pensioners’ Journal 2017 of the Association was released by the chief guest along with the office bearers and copies of the journal were distributed to all those present.
The function culminated with the vote of thanks by BK Raina, Vice President of CGPWA.
