Chain hunger strike by PHE employees enters 14th day

JAMMU, Feb 17: The ongoing chain hunger strike by PHE employees and workers entered 14th day today.
The PHE workers and employees under the banner of PHE Workers Welfare Association raised slogans against the Government for not redressing their long pending demands.
The employees/workers of PHE Division Akhnoor who sat on hunger strike today are Parkash, Ram, Kamal Kumar, Pavinder Kumar, Vijay Kumar, Harbans Lal, Sanjay Kumar and Sat Paul.
Addressing the gathering, senior leader of the Association Bakshi Singh alleged that the Government has adopted anti-employees policy and has compelled them to sit on hunger strike.
Singh demanded regularization after 5 years, clearance of 22 months backlog wages of workers, disbursement of wages of workers before 5th of every month, framing of concrete recruitment policy for PHE Department and holding of DPC.
He urged the Government to redress their demands at the earliest, failing which the association will intensify their protest and for any untoward incident, the Government will be responsible.
Among others, who addressed the gathering were Ram Lal, Ajit Singh, Puran Chand, Manjoor Ali and Vijay Singh.
