Chain hunger strike by PHE employees enters 27th day

JAMMU, Mar 2: The ongoing chain hunger strike by PHE employees and workers entered 27th day today.
The PHE workers and employees under the banner of PHE Workers Welfare Association raised slogans against the Government for not redressing their long pending demands.
The employees/workers of PHE Rural Division who sat on hunger strike today are Rakesh Kumar, Kamaljeet Singh, Sanjeev Singh, Vakil Singh, Vijay Kumar, Ajay Singh and Mohan Lal.
Addressing the gathering, president of the association Bakshi Singh said that Government has compelled them to sit on hunger strike due to its callous attitude towards the workers.
He informed that a massive rally of PHE employees will be held tomorrow to accelerate the ongoing agitation.
Singh demanded regularization after 5 years of ITI and non ITI workers, clearance of 23 months backlog wages of workers, disbursement of wages of workers before 5th of every month, framing of concrete recruitment policy for PHE Department, holding of DPC meetings at all levels and creation of higher scale posts of rationalization of pay scales of field and operation cadre.
He warned the Government of dire consequence if their demands were not redressed at the earliest.
Among others who addressed the gathering were Rajesh Jamwal, Viney Singh and Gandarb Singh.
