SAMBA, Apr 21: District Legal Services Authority, Samba today conducted 2nd Undertrial Review Committee meeting as per Schedule launched by National Legal Services Authority for the year 2025.
The main objective of launch of this Schedule by NALSA is to enhance the efficacy and impact of the UTRC meetings by establishing a fixed quarterly schedule for UTRC meetings for the year 2025.
The meeting was chaired by Principal District & Sessions Judge-cum-Chairman DLSA, Samba, Ravinder Nath Wattal, with the members of Under Trial Review Committee (UTRC) Samba.
In the meeting, the committee reviewed cases of eligible UTPs/Prisoners shortlisted by the Secretary, DLSA Samba for consideration. The committee considered 11 cases of UTPs/ Prisoners out of which one case was recommended for release.
The meeting was attended by Secretary District Legal Services Authority, Samba, Deputy Commissioner, Samba, Senior Superintendent of Police Samba. Besides these, the Superintendents of District Jail Kathua, District Jail Jammu and Central Jail, Kot Bhalwal Jammu also joined the meeting through virtual mode. Legal Aid Defense Counsels also attended the meeting.
