LEH, July 19: In a significant step towards promoting financial inclusion and driving economic growth in the picturesque region of Ladakh, Chairman J&K Grameen Bank (JKGB), Sanjay Gupta, met with Dr Pawan Kotwal, Advisor to Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh.
During the meeting, the Chairman had a constructive discussion with Dr Pawan Kotwal renowned for his visionary approach in implementing crucial reforms and promoting the well-being of the people of Ladakh. The Chairman apprised the Advisor about the current business scenario of J&K Grameen Bank in Ladakh and discussed opportunities for strategic business expansion in the region. The Advisor recognized the pivotal role of financial institutions in driving the region’s economic growth and emphasized the importance of tailored financial solutions for local community.
The Chairman apprised the Advisor that considering the potential of tourism in Ladakh and aspirations of local community, the Bank has devised products to facilitate credit needs of tourism sector in the UT such as finance for promotion of local hospitality, adventure and sports facilities, development of budget accommodation/home stays etc.
Sanjay Gupta also discussed the plans of opening two new branches in District Leh as per its Annual Banking Outlet Expansion Plan FY 2023-24. He said this move highlights the Bank’s commitment in reaching the underserved and remote areas, providing them with access to essential banking services and fostering financial empowerment.
The Chairman reaffirmed the Bank’s commitment in working closely with the administration in implementing strategic initiatives that aim to uplift the local economy and empower the community.
