SRINAGAR, Aug 6: Chairman Hajj Committee of India Qaiser Shamim called on Minister for Hajj and Aquaf, Abdul Rehman Veeri here this evening and discussed several issues related to Hajj with the Minister.
The Chairman briefed the Minister about the arrangements made and the facilities to be extended to the Hajj pilgrims of Jammu and Kashmir during their stay at holy cities of Mecca and Medina in Saudi Arabia.
Secretary Revenue, Mohammad Afzal Bhat, Executive Officer, State Hajj Committee, Fayaz Ahmed Lone and other officers were also present during the meeting.
The Minister urged for accommodating Hajj pilgrims of State in one locality at Mecca. He also asked for proper transport and health care facilities.
Giving a brief of the arrangements made by the State Government for Hajjies, Mr. Veeri said that State Government has made elaborate arrangements for Hajj pilgrims and hoped that Central Hajj Committee would take all necessary steps to facilitate the Hajjies in Mecca and Medina.
The Chairman informed the Minister that 1.20 lakh Hajj pilgrims from India would perform Hajj this year. He said Central Hajj Committee has taken several new initiatives for the convenience of Hajjies at the two holy places this year.
The Chairman assured the Minister of financial assistance for expansion of Hajj house at Bemina and asked the State Hajj Committee to furnish a project report for approval of the funds from the Central Hajj Committee.
