Chairperson DDC Poonch reviews status of development projects

POONCH, Nov 9: Chairperson District Development Council Poonch, Tazeem Akther today chaired a joint meeting of DDC Members and officers here in conference Hall of Dak Bungalow to review the status of developmental projects being executed under District Capex 2024-25
At the outset, District Development Commissioner Vikas Kundal apprised the council about the physical status of ongoing projects under District Capex, DDC, BDC, PRI Grants, SSY, ABDP and other sector schemes for FY 2024-25
Briefing the chair, it was informed that against 2997 proposed works, 2398 have been tendered and 258 allotted, while the process for the rest will be completed within a week’s time.
The DDCs, BDCs and PRIs raised specific issues like providing block wise list of scooters distributed by Social Welfare Department, list of beneficiaries under SMAS, blacktopping of roads, provision of regular water supply, appointment of seasonal teachers, improving school infrastructure and rationalization of teaching staff in schools, repair of damaged PHE electric motors and among other issues of their respective areas.
Speaking at the meeting, the DDC Chairperson exhorted the concerned officers to mobilize the resources at workplaces and speed up the pace of developmental works with strict adherence to the quality parameters.
Laying emphasis on the timely completion of all development projects, the Chairperson impressed upon the executing agencies to speed up the process of tendering of remaining works so that all the works are complete in a time bound manner.
The Chairperson strictly pitched for blacklisting of all those contractors who failed to start works and asked to take necessary action against them.
The District Development Commissioner, while responding to the demands and issues projected by DDCs/BDCs, assured that the issues like road connectivity, water supply, electricity and education will be sorted in a phased manner to ensure that the general public does not suffer anymore.
