SRINAGAR, Sept 29: Dr Heena Shafi Bhat, Chairperson, Khadi and Village Industries Commission (North Zone), Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, called on Governor Satya Pal Malik at the Raj Bhavan here today.
Dr. Bhat apprised Governor about the promotion and implementation of programs for the development of Khadi and other village industries in the rural areas and about the enthusiastic response of people to the ongoing KVIC exhibition in Srinagar organized with the aim of popularizing Khadi and Village industries products.
Governor observed that the KVIC’s programmes and initiatives could be instrumental in generating self reliance amongst the rural community and urged Dr. Bhat to explore possibilities of generating employment through promoting entrepreneurship and start up venture among the youth of the State.
Arun Bakshi and Sunita Koul, President and General Secretary of the 10+2 Contractual Lecturer Association of J&K, respectively also met Governor and apprised him about the demands of the contractual lecturers who are protesting since the last 593 days for regularization of their services as per the J&K Civil Services (Special Provisions) Act, 2010. They also requested to allow those contractual lecturers to serve, whose services have been discontinued meanwhile.
Governor assured Bakshi and Koul that he will take up their issues with the concerned authorities for their early resolution.
