SRINAGAR, Sept 10: Arrangements for 26th Police Public Mela, to be held at Bakshi Stadium on September 20 were reviewed at a meeting of senior police officers and PAWWA members at Police Welfare Centre here today. The meeting was chaired by chairperson Jammu and Kashmir Police Wives Welfare Association K Vijaya Rajendra.
Addressing the meeting, Vijaya stressed for coordination among the different committees already constituted for making necessary arrangements for the Mela. She said that Police Public Mela is a grand event organized by Jammu and Kashmir Police in the twin capital cities at regular intervals.
The Chairperson asked the concerned to make the event more colourful and amusing and added that products put on sale in the mela should be of standard quality and their price should also be monitored by the concerned nominated officers.
It was given out in the meeting that as many as 33 stalls would be installed by different police units. It was also decided that the boarding and lodging facilities for all the stall holders will be arranged at the convenient places. To check quality and rates of items put for sale a surveillance committee would keep a vigil on the stalls in the Mela.
Chairperson disclosed that the mela would be inaugurated at 10 a.m and the raffle draw would be held at 4 p.m. and transparency in the draw would be ensured, she added.
Besides PAWWA members, the meeting was attended by Inspector General of Police, S A Watali, Dy. Inspector General of Police, G.H Bhat, AIG Welfare (PHQ) Rajeshwar Singh, Commandant Abdul Waheed Shah and other police officers.
