Srinagar, July 8: Residents of Dar Mohalla, Peer Mohalla, Illahi Mohalla, and Sofi Mohalla in Chakloo, which falls on the outskirts of Baramulla, are currently facing a distressing situation as a crucial road that connects them to the bus stop remains flooded, causing inconveniences.
As per locals, for the past two days, the vital road has been submerged, leaving residents with no choice but to wade through the water to reach the bus stop.
Expressing their frustration at the lack of timely action and apparent disregard from the Government, locals are disappointed with the authorities’ failure to address the issue and provide relief measures.
The residents have been grappling with this problem for a long time, especially during the rainy seasons, without receiving significant attention or assistance from the relevant authorities.
Abdul Rahim, a resident of the area, highlighted the difficulties faced by the community, saying, “The stagnant water makes it hard for us to carry out our daily activities, and it becomes a breeding ground for mosquitoes and diseases.”
The affected residents argue that the flooding situation has been worsened by illegal construction along the irrigation canal. They believe that such construction has disrupted the natural flow of water, leading to water accumulation on the vital road.
The locals claim that this unauthorized construction has exacerbated the situation and caused additional water logging problems in the area.
“We have repeatedly reached out to the local administration, but our pleas have been ignored,” said Javaid Ahmad, another resident.
