‘Chal Guru Ho Ja Shuru’ a fun entertainer: Director

NEW DELHI, Jan 23:
Upcoming film ‘Chal Guru Ho Ja Shuru’ is a funny take on godmen who con people in the name of finding a cure for their problems, says its director Manoj Sharma.
“Its plot is completely different from ‘PK’ though it talks about godmen. It is not officially based on anyone. Our movie is about a bunch of out-of-work theatre artistes who turn to this business. I got the entire story from the newspaper headlines and what was happening on TV,” Sharma told PTI.
The film, which hits theatres next Friday, stars popular artistes like Hemant Pandey, Tiku Talsania, Brijendra Kala, Sanjay Mishra, Vrijesh Hirjee and Chandrachur Singh and has been produced by Pankaj Narayan and Apoorva Bajaj.
The ‘Office Office’ star said he enjoyed stepping into the shoes of a godman, who is assisted in his plots by a group, headed by Kala.
“The idea to make the film came from a real-life baba but we did not want to get into any controversy, so we changed the plot. I was initially getting threat mails but that did not deter us from doing this movie. I just stopped checking my mails and Facebook,” Pandey said.
The actor said they have tried to convey an important message in the garb of entertainment.
“It is a very fun film but not without a message. Today, it is easy to make a movie but releasing it is really difficult. So, we are happy that we are releasing it in so many theatres, including multiplexes,” Pandey said.
Kala, who plays the brain behind Pandey’s godman avatar, said, “I am the one who comes up with the ideas and keeps this man in control. I decide where he goes, what he says and how much money we charge for it. We have weaved in many interesting events into the story. The environment on the sets was very light. We used to have fun while shooting.”
‘Chal Guru Ho Ja Shuru has been given ‘A’ certificate from censor board but the makers are not worried that it will keep a certain audience away from the movie.
“‘A’ certificate is fine. I think it will make people curious about the film though it is a simple story,” Pandey joked.
Talsania plays a man who tries to teach this baba a lesson.
“In the film I am playing the role of a man, who is fed up of his wife, who is a great follower of a baba. His photos are everywhere in my house. I get angry and I want to teach the baba a lesson,” he said. (PTI)
