JAMMU, Apr 26: Former Minister and senior Congress leader Raman Bhalla today demanded Govt ‘master plan’ on giving some relaxations to industries, construction sector and other economic activities during the ongoing lockdown.
He said, a countrywide lockdown is a setback for economic growth and development of the nation.
“With transport suspended, railways and road transport agencies suffer losses to the tunes of crores. Small businesses and daily wage labourers are the most affected; nevertheless, lockdown is also important keeping in mind the health and life of the citizens. Lockdown isn’t easy and can rather be a harsh experience for daily wage labourers, small businesses and marginalized sections. These people are devoid of their livelihood and with less saving, find the lockdown financially crippling,” Bhalla maintained.
Meanwhile, Bhalla today continued the distribution of ration and other essential items among needy families of Gandhi Nagar constituency at Roop Nagar Digiana, Bablayana and Gangyal.
Prominent among those who accompanied Bhalla included Satish Sharma Block President, Block President SS Dutt, Corporator Inderjeet Kour, Distt General Secretary Aman Bawa, Rajinder Singh Randhawa, Shashi Sayal, Madam Suman Ch., Beant Singh Khalsa, Madam Babli, Ashok Kumar, Iqbal Sibgh, Janak Raj, Mohan Singh Beant Singh, Balbir Singh and Pumar Kumar.
Speaking on the occasion, Bhalla said, “Though the lockdown in India is harsh on marginalized sections of the society; people from different walks of life and several organizations have come forward for help. As soon as the lockdown was imposed, many prominent personalities and business houses have paid thousands of crore of rupees as donation to the Prime Minister’s Relief Fund. This money should be spending on food and providing monetary help to the poor during the lockdown”.
Bhalla demanded Govt to come clear on statement of former J&K Governor Satya Pal Malik regarding scrapping of J&K recruitment process, adding the decision of the UT Administration to scrape the J&K bank’s recruitment process which had started in October 2018 was absolutely pathetic and painful for aspirants. Thousands of candidates of the entire UT who had appeared in this exam had spent their valuable time and money for this recruitment.
Bhalla also demanded Govt to follow advisory of Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) against use of disinfectants on people for COVID-19 management.
He demanded J&K Govt to properly review implementation of lockdown restrictions in J&K and resumption of economic activities as per the guidelines of the Government of India.
