JAMMU, Feb 21: The Crime Branch Jammu today produced challan against the Managing Director of Ocean Agro Farms/Endowment Investment/Endowment Plantation etc for duping the innocent people by fraudulent means.
The challan has been produced in case FIR number 30/2002 under Section 420, 406, 120-B/RPC Police Station Crime Branch Jammu against Jarnail Singh Hanjra of Mohali, Chandigarh, Zaffar Javed Mirza of Thannamandi Rajouri, Bashir Ahmad Manhas of Surankote Poonch, Shujay Amein Manhas of Surankote, Nazir Ahmed of Srinagar, Satish Kapoor of Jammu and Haji Lal Din Bhat of Bantalab Jammu.
These eight accused were booked by the Crime Branch on complaint of Zaffar Javed Mirza of Rajouri who was appointed as Manager of the Endowment firm for collecting money from the people as investment. He
The complainant worked there from 1994 to 1998 and collected more than Rs one crore from the depositors. After he came to know that the firm was cheating people who were demanding return of their money, Zaffar disposed off his parental property and paid back Rs 14 lakh to the depositors. However, the liabilities were still more than Rs 1.25 crore following which the complaint was lodged with the Crime Branch.
During the course of investigation, it was established that the accused, including complainant Zaffar Javed Mirza, duped people of their hard earned money on pretext of providing them higher rate of interest.
