SRINAGAR, Mar 10: Vigilance Organization today produced challan against the Public Prosecutor of Session Court Budgam, who was caught red handed while demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 10,000 from the complainant.
Challan in Case FIR No. 04/2014 P/S VOK, against Sheikh Mohammad Nayeem was produced in the Court of Special Judge Anti-corruption, Kashmir, Srinagar for judicial determination.
The instant case was registered on the basis of written complaint by Reyaz Ahmad Mir of Wanihama Beerwa Budgam, who alleged that the accused Public Prosecutor was demanding a bribe of Rs one lakh for pleading the case under trial before the Court of District & Sessions Judge Budgam, which pertains to the murder of his father.
In the murder case, Reyaz Ahmad Mir was Public Prosecutor on behalf of the State and he threatened that if the bribe was paid to him. he would help and plead in favour of accused persons.
On a formal complaint in this regard, VOK laid a trap and the said Public Prosecutor was caught red handed while accepting bribe amount of Rs 10,000 from the complainant as a first installment.
