JAMMU, July 30: Chamber of Commerce & Industry organized a farewell function today at Chamber House in the honour of A K Thatai, Principal Commissioner of Income Tax on his transfer to Ghaziabad.
Mr Thatai was felicitated by the president of the Jammu Chamber, Rakesh Gupta on the occasion. While speaking Gupta appreciated the efforts made by Mr Thatai for making the several changes in the working of the Income Tax Department and converting it into a corporate office. It was during his tenure that a separate Income Tax Officer Colony was developed and completed which has been inaugurated recently.
President CCI also appreciated that the Income Tax Department did not conduct raids or surveys as the Chamber fully cooperated with the Income Tax Department and made it sure that the business community pays taxes honestly.
Arun Gupta, secretary general also appreciated the efforts and cooperation of Mr Thatai especially during last year’s flash floods. He said it was due to his personal efforts that the date for filling of Income Tax returns was extended for six months by the Union Finance Ministry.
On the occasion Mr Thatai was presented a souvenir as a token of Love.
Mr Thatai thanked the office bearers of CCI and the business community for their cooperation extended to the Income Tax Department during his three and half year tenure.
Sham Lal Langer, senior vice president CCI presented the vote of thanks.
The other office bearers of CCI present in the meeting included Rahul Mahajan, secretary and Ashu Gupta, treasurer.
