JAMMU, Feb 1: Chamber of Tourism Trade and Industry Katra, presented key tourism issues to Yasha Mudgal, Secretary Tourism, urging immediate attention and collaborative action to address challenges and foster sustainable growth in the sector.
A delegation of the Chamber called on Yasha Mudgal and discussed pressing matters affecting the tourism industry. During the meeting, president of the Chamber, Raj Kumar Padha presented several suggestions, recommendations and issues. These include; rolling out of new guidelines for registration and renewal of tourism licenses of hotels, guest houses, restaurants and travel offices with minimum NoCs at the earliest.
He impressed upon to devise a policy to carry on pilgrimage promotional activities so that the visiting number of pilgrims may be directed to nearby tourist destinations of Jammu division. He emphasized that efforts should be made to get the PRASHAD scheme sanctioned again for holy Katra town and the projects like redevelopment of Katra town on modern lines by keeping the utilities like electric, wifi and telephone wires underground; beautifying Ban Ganga Road, Panthal Road, Jammu Road and Railway Road; redevelopment and beautification of Shreedhar Chowk at Bus Stand Katra ; General STP for Katra town on the lines of Jammu and Srinagar cities: development of a residential colony for Katra town by revisiting the DPR of PRASHAD Scheme, etc.
The president suggested that the Navratra Festival meeting should be held three months before the festival so that the event may be organized in a big and better way. He also requested to clear the pending payments of all the stakeholders of Navratra Festival at the earliest.
General secretary Atul Sharma suggested establishment of TRC Katra and deputing an officer of the rank of Deputy Director to take care of all the tourism related issues of Katra as well as Reasi district. He also suggested to set up a museum at a suitable location where Mata ki Kahani should be showcased through models or virtual tours so that the visiting pilgrims, especially the younger generation may know the importance of other temples situated on the base camp Katra and on the track of MaaVaishno Devi Yatra.
Yasha Mudgal gave a patient hearing to all the points and ensured her full cooperation and support.
