JAMMU, Feb 20: Chamber of Commerce  and Industry Jammu has raised some burning issues of Jammu region and urged the State Governor to expedite the process to setting up of AIIMS at Jammu, speed up progress on sanctioned projects for Jammu and issue State Subjects to the people in time bound manner.
Addressing press conference here today president of the CCI, Jammu, Rakesh Gupta said that people are expecting good governance  and for this it is necessary to throw out  tainted officers and ‘dead wood’  from various Government departments, PSUs and Boards.  He said that in getting PRCs the people are facing lot of hardships. They are made to produce old record  of  1952  even  if he produces the PRC of his father and grandfather.  This is an attempt to challenge own record by the Revenue authorities. He said that PRCs should be issued in time bound manner.  Moreover, no efforts have been made to digitalize the Revenue records.
Expressing displeasure over the functioning of Super Specialty Hospital at Jammu, CCI president said it should be made fully functional with all required equipment and senior faculty or it should be out sourced.  Even if the people are made to pay for services at the subsidized rates at SSH, there should not be any problem. There are free medical services at Govt Medical College Hospital, Jammu. The Government must ensure SSH visibly functional.
The Chamber president expressed serious concern over the slow  progress on development projects of  Jammu,  like Mubarak Mandi Heritage, Bahu Fort Gandola project,  Tawi Artificial lake, Patnitop Development and  International Convention Centre at Jammu. He sought the attention of Governor towards these projects.
The CCI also demanded setting up AIIMS at Jammu and Srinagar, expansion of Jammu Airport , abolition of interview system for non-Gazetted posts and strictly implementation of Jammu Master Plan.  He said the businessmen are being constantly harassed  for the reason that their premises are not in the commercial declared zones. The Government need to identify commercial and parking zones as per Master Plan. Most of these sites have been grabbed by the politicians. He pointed out that  nearly 800 kanals of  land is lying vacant with the Animal Husbandry department at Chatha Farm, adjoining airport and that can be utilized for the airport expansion.
Senior Vice president of the CCI, Sham Lal Langar and vice president Deepak Aggarwal were also present.
