KATRA, Apr 22: SMVDU Chancellor, N N Vohra has approved lucrative fellowships in almost all disciplines (B Tech, B Arch , M Tech etc) of the university and in some cases almost two and a half year full tuition fee waiver for meritorious students.
The university has achieved a distinction among a very few rare institutions in India that encourages merit and hard work so generously keeping in view engendering serious academic engagement among students. The university has Student Merit-cum-Means Scholarship Scheme (SMMSS) to inculcate work culture and competitive spirit among the students. Under SMMSS, the university provides financial assistance in terms of semester tuition fee waiver, ranging from 10 percent to 100 percent on the basis of merit during the semester to the top 10 percent meritorious students in various professional disciplines. All students [UG/PG] shall have to secure a minimum SGPA of 8.50 in the preceding semester to become eligible for the award of scholarship “under SMMSS scheme” for all subsequent semesters.
The university is also offering a Special Scholarship Scheme for the academic year 2017-18 to meritorious students at time of admission. There is Full Tuition Fee waiver for first five semesters for a student taking admission in B Tech program and having 30,000 AIR(CRL) in JEE (Mains) Examination. For a student taking admission in B Arch. program and having up to 500 AIR (CRL) in JEE (Mains) examination there is Full Tuition Fee waiver for first 05 semesters. There are similar other schemes for M Tech and other programs. The PhD students, who are UGC-NET/GATE qualified and eligible for registering on full-time basis, shall be eligible for an assistantship of Rs 25,000/- per month for first two years and Rs 28,000/- per month for next one year along with suitable contingency grants too. University also offers Post-Doctoral fellowships in various Departments of study. The professional area of Post-Doctoral fellow should pertain to the areas of research/teaching in the various Departments. The fellow will be entitled to fellowship amount of Rs 35,000/- per month for a period of 12 months extendable by another six months twice, subject to satisfactory performance in terms of research work and output.
