JAMMU, Mar 1: Taking a dig at the authorities concerned, Raju Chandel, has flayed the selective demolition drives in Jammu forcing Gujjar and Bakarwal community to take extreme steps.
Addressing a press conference here today Chandel said that Gujjar and Bakarwal people have always opted for peace and were never involved in violence.
“They are being illegally evicted from the land they have been living in for years together,” he claimed questioning the authorities that where will these people go if their shelter is demolished and they are ousted.
Chandel also said that ancestors of Gujjar and Bakarwal people lived here for decades.
He urged upon the Government to stop such eviction drives else there will be dire consequences if the authorities continue to harass nomads.
