Sir,
Shifting of exam session of Ist Primary to Higher Secondary level from November to March requires a re-look and rethinking before a final decision is made. It is a fact that in outside State colleges session starts from July and students have to wait for six months but it is the problem of only one class and not all other classes. If Nov Session encourages private coaching then why not to ban this tuition culture end this menace. However change of session from November to March will lead to a number of problems. The problems include that exams of various classes will be held in March and will last upto middle of April including practicals. Then another forty to fifty days will be involved to wait for the result to come out. It means that students have to wait till May ending, then admission will start in June and last upto July. New academic session will start in the last upto July. New academic session will start in the month of July. After that there will be only five months left upto November for the academic session, out of which atleast one and a half month will go to holidays. If means that there are only 110-120 days for classwork.Whereas classwork of 220 days is required to complete the syllabus. That if winter breaks/ holidays are to be cut short then in Winter zone areas it will not be possible to continue classes in chilly month of Nov.- Dec. as there is no proper heating arrangement in schools of winter zone area. November session once exams are over students have to wait for result during winter breaks. New admission upto Middle classes is completed before winter breaks. New Session starts from the Ist March for all classes providing required days to complete the syllabus. It is therefore required to the Education Minister of J&K State that he may kindly look into above problems and resolve them before changing the Session from November to March.
Yours etc…
