Changing party system

Sir,
This has reference to the article ‘Changing nature of party system in J&K’ DE Nov 20.
It is a healthy development that grand old parties like the Congress or the National Conference are losing their  hegemony in view of other political parties. The presence of BJP and PDP in the election arena has not only made elections more interesting but also quite competitive.
The people can no longer be taken for granted, and snubbed after election process is over. The people in the State are once again showing enthusiasm in the democratic process, as they find their votes are valuable now. Each vote can make a difference in the fate of contesting candidates. Likewise, minorities and marginalised sections of society are now in demand.
Besides, the presence of BJP in Kashmir and Ladakh regions has added further colour to poll  process. The party that was loathed earlier in the Valley is slowly  finding acceptance. The fluttering  of BJP flags atop houses in Kashmir is unbelieveable. Amid poll boycott call by separatists is the din of the political parties clamouring for votes.
Yours etc…
