UDHAMPUR, May 18: SDM Chenani Abdul Satar today inaugurated famous Chappari Mela at village Chappari, 15 km from Mantalai, Chenani near here.
A large number of people from Chenani participated in the Mela where several departments have established their stalls.
Local elders informed that Chappari Mata temple is very famous in the area.
They quoted their ancestors to say that Goddess Kalka as a girl child was seen in the nearby dense forest after which Mata Chappari Temple was constructed there.
The elders further said that devotees come to this religious place to get their wishes fulfilled.
“About 15 years back priest at this temple, Pandit Gouri Shankar started organizing the Mela to pay obeisance to the Goddess on the day of Budh Purnima.
