This has reference to the article ‘Character-Building’ by Brijmohan Sharma’ DE Jan 23.
I would like to suggest some measures to control the increasing trend of rapes, murder, corruption, narcotics etc.
Firstly, Character-Building subjects be introduced from Ist primary to University level. The books so introduced should be based on topics from religious books of all religions in India. A child brought up in such an environment will not be influenced by any sources of evil. Such subjects can be taught in Urdu, Hindi and English alongwith other subjects.
Secondly, a group of religious preachers from all faiths be constituted for preaching the tenets at tehsil or block level among people. The group can even visit remote areas to improve the life of people living there.
Thirdly harsh laws be introduced for heinous crimes like rape etc. Once these things are in place, there is likelihood that the societies will improve for better. Otherwise it will be hell all around us.
