JAMMU, Apr 18: The Charak Biradari Sabha held a press conference in Chhanni Kartholi to announce that elections of the Sabha would be held shortly.
The press conference followed a meeting chaired by Parshotam Singh, the convenor nominated by representatives from over 36 villages.
According to the press release issued by the Sabha’s spokesperson, there is no other Sabha that belongs to the Charak Biradari, as the Charak Welfare Society was dissolved last year after completing its three-year term.
The Charak Welfare Society, it said, was registered in 1987 but became defunct in 1993 due to non-renewal on time. It was nominated as an adhoc body on 27th July 2019 for a period of six months to complete the election process. However, it failed to do so and was dissolved last year. Six months ago, a temporary body was constituted after some matters regarding the biradari came to light.
Those who attended the meeting included Parshotam Singh, Ashok Singh, Dr G S Charak, Gopal Singh, Narain Singh, among others.
The Charak Biradari Sabha also demanded that the administration immediately issue an order to stop work on the Mandir land, including removing encroachment by non-community persons.
Parshotam Singh, Ashok Singh, and others warned that if the department does not remove the encroachment, they will lodge an FIR with the Crime Branch.
