JAMMU, Jan 21: Dogra Sadar Sabha (DSS) today demanded final settlement to the problems being faced by West Pakistan and PoK refugees on humanitarian grounds.
Addressing a press conference, former Minister and president of DSS, Gulchain Singh Charak condemned those elements, who are not only opposing final settlement of West Pakistan and PoK refugees but also using derogatory language against these citizens of India.
He appealed to the Governor to consider the flood affected cases of Jammu province before January 23 like that the same has to been done for Kashmir province.
He further demanded immediate start of work of widening and the up-gradation of road from Purmandal Morh (Kalu Chak) to the historical shrine of Purmandal/Utterbehani and appealed the Government to immediately take up the quality repair works on the road leading to such a holy shrine so that Chhari Yatra could be taken out properly during the ensuing Chetar Choudashi festival.
Charak also expressed concern over the precarious condition of historical Mubarak Mandi Complex and said that the conservation/restoration work which is going on at a very slow pace should be taken on war-footing.
“The work of the Royal Courts which has been started by ASI needs to be expedited and an enquiry must be initiated against the demolition of the Deewan-e-Aam which was the actual heritage component in the courtyard, and should be restored to its original glory”, he demanded.
He also demanded that the Mubarak Mandi Heritage Society Managing Committee should be re-constituted for speedy implementation of the project.
He appealed the Governor to take up the case of starting a full-fledged Duggar Channel with the Union Ministry of Information and Broadcasting.
“Declare Urdu and Hindi languages as official languages of the State and computerize the revenue records to save the innocent people from exploitation”, he demanded.
