JAMMU, Aug 21: Under the aegis of Directorate of Ayush J&K, Charak Jayanti was celebrated with great fervor and enthusiasm in Government Ayurvedic Hospital, Indira Chowk, here today.
On this day, various programs were organized in Government Ayurvedic Hospital, Indira Chowk. The program was presided over by chief guest Dr Mohan Singh (Director Ayush J&K) and senior officials of the Directorate of Ayush J&K comprising Dr Suresh Sharma, Deputy Director Ayush Jammu Division, Dr Rakesh Kumar Raina, Assistant Director Ayurveda, Dr Vandana Dogra (Medical Superintendent of the Hospital) and Dr Aruna Bhat (Deputy Medical Superintendent).
Prashnottari Quiz, Shloka recitation competition on Charaka Samhita and Essay writing competition on Charaka Samhita were organized wherein interns, PG students and Ayurveda students participated. The program was organized in collaboration with Vishva Ayurveda Parishad J&K unit and its members under the leadership of Dr Jitender Gupta were also present in the program.
On this auspicious day, first Institutional Ethics Committee meeting was also convened under the chairmanship of Prof Arun Gupta from Chaudari Brahm Prakash Ayurveda Sansthana New Delhi wherein many important decisions regarding direction of the evidence based research were taken by the committee and two research proposals were also present in the meeting which were approved by the committee.
Contributions of Acharaya Charak were remembered in the context of present day health scenario. Various speakers spoke at length about Acharaya Charaka in their lectures. Dr Mohan Singh also presented his views on the works of Acharaya Charaka and impressed upon the Ayush fraternity that Acharaya Charaka’s views on Health and Wellness must be implemented on the ground.
Prizes were distributed among the winners of various competitions by dignitaries. Chrakashaptha of compassion and care of patients were administered to the gathering.
