JAMMU, Nov 18: The police seized 22.5 kg charas and 900 gms heroin from different locations and arrested six persons in this connection.
The police spokesman said that NCB sleuths nabbed two drug peddlers hailing from J&K at Ahmedabad railway station last night and recovered 20 kg charas from their possession. They had reached there in a train to deliver the consignment. On the basis of intelligence inputs, they were intercepted at Railway Station and finally arrested. They have been identified as Mohd Ayaz and Balwinder Singh from Kashmir.
Meanwhile, Bani Police in Kathua conducted a raid at a house at village Bhandar, bordering Chamba district of Himachal in tehsil Bani today and recovered 2.5 kg of charas. The house owner, namely Neelkanth alias Dhanu, son of Paras Ram managed to slip away before the police raided. The police started operation to nab him.
The police nabbed four persons hailing from J&K at Talwara Jattan, near Pathankot today and recovered 900 gm heroin worth over rupees one crore in the international market from their possession. SSP Pathankot, Surinder Kumar Kalia said that a car was intercepted near Talwara Jattan during checking on highway and four persons were taken into custody after contraband material was recovered from the vehicle.
Those arrested were identified as Nasar Ahmed, Javed and Gulzar, residents of Kashmir and Bansi Lal, resident of Mamoon Cantt near Pathankot. They are said to be members of inter-state gang of drug-smugglers.
