JAMMU, Oct 30: Police claimed today that they have presented a chargesheet in the court of law in the Dr Sumedha Sharma murder case.
On March 7, this year, Dr Sumedha Sharma, daughter of Kamal Kishore of Talab Tillo, Jammu, was allegedly stabbed to death by her boyfriend, Dr Johar Mehmood Ganai son of Mehmood Ganai of Bhaderwah, in latter’s home in Janipur locality here. After killing her girlfriend, the accused, Dr Johar Mehmood Ganai, also attempted to end his life with the same knife he used to kill Dr Sumedha but he survived the attack.
Following the murder of the dentist, a case FIR number 27/2023 under section 302 and 323 of the IPC was registered at Police Station Janipur and the investigation of the case entrusted to a Special Investigating Team (SIT) headed by Ramnish Gupta, SP Headquarters and other members including Sachit Sharma, SDPO City South, Vishal Shoor, SDPO Domana, Inspector Sikandar Chouhan, SHO Janipur, and Inspector Rakesh Sharma, SHO Bakshi Nagar.
“The SIT has conducted a thorough investigation in the case and presented a 1249 page charge sheet, establishing the offences against Dr Johar Mehmood Ganai, in the court of law,” a police officer told the Excelsior.
