Chatha-Bhour Camp residents serve ultimatum for smooth power supply

JAMMU, Aug 20: Agitated over non-availability of power supply, residents of Chatha Farm, Bhour Camp, Chatha Pind, Chatha Mill and adjoining areas have served an ultimatum of five days to the Power Development Department to resolve the issue or face direct action of the public.
These people are demanding uninterrupted power supply by shifting load from overloaded Power Grid Station Chatha to Power Grid Station Hakkal, which is under- loaded.
“The PDD authorities had assured to do the needful but did nothing till date with the result people of these areas are suffering because of frequent and unscheduled power cuts in these summer days,” said Sushil Sudan, President of Block Satwari Social Welfare Association, while addressing a press conference along with other office bearers of the body, here today.
Protesting over non-availability of power supply, residents of these areas had blocked ever busy R S Pura road few days back following which the PDD authorities had assured to resolve the issue by shifting load from Grid Station Chatha to Hakkal Station, which is under load.
Sushil Sudan warned that if no action is taken by August 25, people would again block the road and gherao the PDD office and Government would be responsible for the same.
Others, who were present in the press conference, included Amrit Bali, Senior Vice-President SWA, Parfulat Singh, General Secretary, Ex Sarpanch Gurmeet Kour, Pawan Kumar Bhagat, Shashi Kant Khajuria, Gurdeep Singh, Baldev Singh, Mohinder Lal Choudhary and Jagdish Raj Bhagat.
