Chaya booked for violating lockdown

JAMMU, Apr 17: Police today booked Mushtaq Chaya, Chairman Mushtaq Group of Hotels for violating lockdown conditions and fleeing from Bhatindi to Srinagar, reportedly using an official vehicle.
He has been booked under FIR No. 109/2020 and Section 188 IPC and 3 of Epidemic Diseases Act.
SSP Jammu Sridhar Patil told the Excelsior that the case has been registered against Chaya and he has been put on quarantine in Srinagar. He can be arrested after the quarantine period is over, he said.
Bhatindi is Red Zone from where Chaya left for Srinagar in an official vehicle, sources said.
Meanwhile, Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, Shahid Iqbal Choudhry, said that Chaya has been put under home quarantine along with his family at Nishat. He said that as soon as he along with family reached home, a medical team headed by Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Srinagar was dispatched for medical checkup.
“Since it was late and for the night he has been put under home quarantine. He and his family’s shifting to a quarantine centre will be decided in the morning depending upon the report from the medical team”, he said.
Inspector General of Police Kashmir, Vijay Kumar, told Excelsior that FIR has been lodged against Chaya by Jammu Police for violating lockdown. “They will come and take him. But he has to be quarantined for two weeks first”, he said.
