JAMMU, Dec 14: The Central University of Jammu (CUJ) hosted the 3rd meeting of the Consortium of Higher Educational Institutions of North India (CHEINI) here today.
The consortium, comprising seven prestigious institutions, focuses on fostering innovation, academic collaboration and research excellence in the region.
The member institutions included the Central Universities of Punjab, Jammu, Himachal Pradesh, Kashmir, Rajasthan, and Haryana, along with the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Ropar.
Key outcomes of the meeting included decisions to initiate dual and joint degree programs and share academic and research resources among consortium members.
Nodal officers were appointed to facilitate collaboration, organize joint activities, and consolidate future initiatives.
The meeting was chaired by Prof Sanjeev Jain, Vice-Chancellor of the Central University of Jammu.
Prof Suram Singh, Dean Academics, coordinated the session and presented a detailed agenda for discussion.
Prof Vinay Kumar highlighted collaborative opportunities using the advanced research facilities available at CU Jammu.
The event began with a welcome address by Prof Yashwant Singh, Registrar of CU Jammu, who shared an overview of the university’s achievements.
Prof Jaya Bhasin summarized the meeting’s discussions, while Prof Vandana Sharma delivered the formal vote of thanks.
Prominent attendees included Prof Syed Zahoor Ahmad Geelani and Prof Shahid Rasool from the Central University of Kashmir; Prof Pawan Kumar Sharma and Prof Surender Singh from the Central University of Haryana; Prof Dinesh Chandra Sharma and Prof Pradeep Verma from the Central University of Rajasthan and representatives from other consortium institutions.
Senior faculty, Deans, Associate Deans, and officials from CU Jammu were also present.
The meeting marked another milestone in strengthening academic and research ties among Northern India’s leading educational institutions.
