REASI: Minister for Co-operatives and Ladakh Affairs, Chering Dorjay today said the present dispensation is making all out efforts to develop Reasi on the lines of mainstream tourism destinations abreast of existing religious tourism here, besides laying stress on exploring the sites located along the main roads and interior roots of the district.
The Minister, who is also the chairman of District Development Board, Reasi said this while chairing DDB meeting convened to review the overall financial and physical achievements related to district plan and other centrally sponsored schemes.
The Minister said, “Developing tourism sector means generation of employment opportunities for the local youth and in this regard, no stone shall be left unturned by the government in bringing Reasi on the tourist map.”
Minister of State for Finance & Planning Ajay Nanda, MLA Gool-Arnas Aijaz Ahmed Khan, MLA Gulabgarh, Mumtaz Ahmad Khan, MLC Jugal Kishore, District Development Commissioner (DDC), Reasi Ravinder Kumar, SSP Reasi and other senior officers of line departments were present in the meeting.
While deliberating on the completion of construction works of roads and buildings in the district, the minister instructed the concerned officers to expedite the works on all projects to facilitate the people residing in the rural pockets.
He instructed the officers to fix responsibility of the concerned in implementing various welfare schemes and programmes in the district, besides directing them to conduct frequent field visits for ensuring smooth implementation of the ongoing works.
He also instructed the concerned officers to ensure that New Type Primary Health Centers (NTPHCs) start functioning properly and take up construction work two new buildings for from all the three constituencies on annual basis.
Minister of State for Finance & Planning , Ajay Nanda, in his address, said the government has achieved maximum progress in respect of enhancing of old age pensions, carrying out plantation drives, increasing migrant relief, gradual repair of transformers, exploring tourist sites and execution of other development works.
In the meeting, he also highlighted issues related to provision of adequate staff in District Hospital Reasi and inclusion of mother and child care facilities in Old Hospital, Reasi.
Meanwhile, the Legislators also expressed their concerns related to poor funding in different sectors, delay in development works of roads, schools, medical buildings and bridges including pending cases of compensation, covering Mahore, Shidole, Dharmari, Thuroo, Thakrakote, Judda, Reasi, Katra, Bomag, Shajroo, Chasana, Gari, Arnas, Thilloo, Sildhar and other villages under power and water supply.
Earlier, the DDC informed that out of total approved plan of Rs. 139.83 crore, net availability was Rs. 65.23 crore and out of which Rs. 44.11 crore has been fully utilized with the 68 per cent coverage.
