Chhari Mubarak leaves Panjtarani for Pahalgam after darshan

 

SRINAGAR:  The “Chhari Mubarak”, the holy Mace of Lord Shiva, left Panjtarani for Pahalgam on way back to Amreshwar temple Deshnami Akhara here after paying obeisance on the last day of the 40-day-long pilgrimage at the cave shrine yesterday.

       This year, over 2.60 lakh pilgrims, including women and sadhus, paid obeisance at the cave shrine from both shortest Baltal and traditional Pahalgam tracks from June 29.

     After day-long pujan yesterday in the cave shrine on the occasion of Sharavan Purnima, Rakshabandan, Mahant Deependra Giri, carrying the Chharri, left for Panjtarani before the dusk.

      The Chhari left Panjartani at 0700 hrs on the occasion of ” Pratipada” for Pahalgam for a night halt there.

      On the occasion of ” Dvitiya” tomorrow ‘Pujan’ & ‘Visarjan’ ceremonies will be performed at 0915 hrs on the bank of river Lidder.

   Thereafter, traditional ‘Kari-Pakouri’ Bhandara shall be organised for sashus.

     With this last ritual, annual pilgrimage of Swami Amarnath shall culminate. Chhari-Mubarak shall return to its abode at Srinagar.  (AGENCIES)
